Duties & Responsibilities:
- Create highly complex site layouts and designs in AutoCAD/Civil 3D for utility and commercial-scale renewable energy projects.
- Oversee projects in a portfolio or a suite of projects.
- Review complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance.
- Independently apply extensive and diversified knowledge of renewable development design principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields.
- Support client interaction for multiple projects in multiple portfolios.
- Coordinate cross-functionality between disciplines.
- Supervise, provide training for, and mentor assigned staff engineers.
- Independently evaluate, select, and adapt procedures and criteria.
- Develop new techniques and/or improved processes, materials, or products.
- Assist upper-level management and staff as a technical specialist or advisor.
- May act as a supervisor.
- Lead all staff necessary to complete assignments.
- Review and finalize scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments.
- Prepare proposals to provide professional services for engineering projects or portfolios.
- Plan, schedule, or coordinate the preparation of documents or activities for multiple major projects or is responsible for an entire portfolio.
- Act as main point of contact for their discipline or project team on portfolios.
- Seek guidance, when necessary, on unconventional or complex problems, direction on modified techniques, and new approaches on assignments with conflicting criteria.
- Receive a review of completed work for application of sound professional judgment.
- Perform essential duties including meeting deliverables and deadlines.
- Perform additional duties as assigned or directed.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or similar applicable work experience is required.
- Professional Civil Engineering licensure is strongly preferred, multi-state licensure is desirable.
- 8+ years of experience in design and drafting utilizing AutoCAD and/or Civil3D.
- Proficiency in the creation of civil land development sheet sets including grading, site drainage, and access road design.
- Experience with utility or commercial solar PV systems or energy storage system design is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and independently.
- Prior supervisory or managerial experience is desirable.
- Ability to identify and solve complex problems.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
